
The company, which operates the Copper Box Arena and the London Aquatics Centre on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, said Double will be responsible for the overall programming, management and attraction of events business at both venues. Her role will place particular emphasis on identifying new and current conference, special events and entertainment accounts.
Double joins GLL from the O2 Arena, where she has worked for the last eight years, with her most recent role being event sales director. She also spent six years at Excel London as senior sales manager, with both roles focused on corporate and special events.
Her achievements have included securing such large-scale events as the Salvation Army International Congress, the and St James Place Wealth Management Conference.
Tony Wallace, head of major venues at GLL, said: "Jennie's appointment as commercial events director will help us to attract diverse high-end brands and become established iconic event venues whilst ensuring that the Copper Box Arena and the London Aquatics Centre continue to play a vital and vibrant role in the lasting legacy of London 2012."
Double added: "I am delighted to be given the opportunity to work with the team here on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and to play an active role in fulfilling GLL's Olympic legacy commitments. I'm looking forward to building on the successes already achieved and will work to firmly establish both locations as London's premier venues for sporting, corporate and entertainment events."
GLL is the UK's largest leisure operator. Overseas it controls more than 150 public leisure centres and 27 libraries in partnership with around 30 councils, agencies and sporting organisations, employing more than 7,000 people.
