Girl Up "Today we rise" by Ogilvy

Girl Up, the gender equality youth initiative of the United Nations Foundation, celebrates Kamala Harris' achievement as the highest-ranking female politician in American history.

The work follows more than 30 households as they watch Harris (the daughter of Indian and Jamaican immigrants) being sworn in as the 49th Vice President of the United States. "When one girl rises, all girls rise," the ad declares as female viewers react to the milestone moment in real time.

The ad featured in an essay by Simone Oliver, global editor-in-chief of Refinery29, who discussed the significance of Harris’ political stature. It was created by Alvaro Rivera and Luca Corteggiano, and directed by Giovanni Messner.
