Gillette links up with Robinson and England rugby

LONDON – Gillette has clinched a deal to become the England rugby team's first 'official male grooming partner' and signed Jason Robinson as its new brand ambassador.

Rugby clubs will be able to see live action replays and crucial decisions made by the television match officials on of Gillette-branded screens.

The deal provides prominent brand exposure at the famous Twickenham rugby ground for all England games and on giant video screens at every ground in the Zurich Premiership.

Robinson, the England and British Lions star, will join David Beckham as a Gillette ambassador to promote its new M3Power razor.

Robinson said: "It's fantastic Gillette is now involved with the England squad and the Zurich Premiership clubs. As a player involved with both club and country, I look forward to working with it."

Ads are expected to appear in rugby magazines when the new razor is launched in September. Robinson will then be used tactically to promote the brand in the lead up to the autumn internationals.

George Allen, the marketing director at Gillette, said: "We are delighted to be supporting the finest international rugby union team, a world class Premiership and, with Jason Robinson, someone who represents one of the best and most exciting talents in rugby union."

Since England won the Rugby World Cup in Australia last year English rugby sponsorship has gone from strength to strength.

Earlier this week mobile network 02 confirmed a £12m deal with the Rugby Football Union, worth more than double the previous agreement.
