She added that there were no immediate plans to change the policy, but said they "would be crazy not to at least review" chief executive Ralph Bernard's inventory strategy in the future.
This is the second time the newly appointed Hazlitt has questioned the status quo in the weeks since her appointment, following her outspoken attack on the poor quality of radio advertising and her proposal to allow listeners to rate ads (Media Week, 15 May, page 3).
Hazlitt has also spoken about the group's plans to focus on online audiences and revenue following GCap's preliminary results for the year to 31 March 2007, which showed a fall of 9% in total revenue to £200.1m and pre-tax profits of £14.4m.
The former managing director of Yahoo! UK & Ireland outlined plans to use increase awareness of the Capital brand online, saying radio had to be viewed in a more "holistic" way.
"I want to drive people's understanding of what other audiences are available," she said. "We have one million users across our sites that generate £4m of revenue today and that's the right combination of revenue to users as far as I'm concerned."
Following its financial results last week, GCap has divulged plans to focus on the multi-platform offering of Classic FM and Xfm, as well as digital-only stations Planet Rock and theJazz.
Genre-relevant concert tickets, CDs and magazines will be introduced, while accessing stations via DAB, online, mobile and digital TV will be heavily promoted, giving advertisers a variety of options.
Investment in Core and Life has ceased, but Hazlitt said no decision had been made on their future. Capital Disney has been closed, as predicted in Media Week (17 April, page 4).
The development of the Xfm network websites, arguably the group's most advanced, is to increase in the next month with the introduction of mobile blogging, in which users will be able to text blog updates to the site via their mobile phone.
Fans can already choose the playlist between 10am and 4pm on weekdays, thanks to X to the power of U, as well as creating their own radio station on Mi-Xfm.
