QSoft Consulting, owner of the digital radio station, said Frisch died at his home on Saturday, following an “apparent accident or suicide”.
Frisch founded the Gaydar brand with Henry Badenhorst in 1999, launching internet dating services and social events.
The radio station was developed in 2002. A fifth birthday celebration on Thursday evening will go ahead as planned.
In a statement, QSoft described Frisch as “an accomplished entrepreneur and a very generous man who also cared deeply about the people who worked for and with him”.
It added: “Gary's legacy as a co-founder of the Gaydar phenomenon is immense and it is one that we shall both celebrate and continue into the future. Gary will never be forgotten and he is deeply missed by us all.”
