The MP and former 'Celebrity Big Brother' contestant Galloway was one of a number of public figures being targeted as part of Mahmood's latest forays as the fake sheikh.
But unlike previous victims, including Sven-Goran Eriksson, who resigned as England coach after being stung, and the Countess of Wessex, Galloway was not so easily fooled and is now looking to turn the tables on Mahmood, claiming he has pictures of him that he "intends to make widely available", according to the Press Gazette.
So far, up-to-date images of Mahmood, who has a bodyguard and has helped to imprison around 130 criminals through his stings, have not been published.
The MP has also referred the matter to the Metropolitan Police and is demanding the paper hands over details of its investigation.
According to Galloway, during the failed sting Mahmood and his team asked him a variety of questions ranging from the possibility of sponsoring MPs to anti-semitism.
Among questions asked, were whether Galloway disliked the Daily Express because its owner Richard Desmond is Jewish. Galloway strongly denied this, instead replying: "No, because it's owned by a pro-war pornographer."
A News of the World spokesman said: "The News of the World has been carrying out wholly legitimate enquiries into the activities of a number of individuals, among whom is Mr George Galloway MP. The results of the investigation will be published in the newspaper this weekend."
