Galloway dead cert for boot as Daily Telegraph loses libel appeal

LONDON - Respect MP George Galloway is a dead cert to get the boot from 'Celebrity Big Brother' tonight at 1/33 but has evaded possible bankruptcy as a Daily Telegraph appeal against a libel ruling was rejected.

The Daily Telegraph today lost its appeal to have a £150,000 libel ruling overturned. The Bethnal Green and Bow MP won the damages from the Daily Telegraph in 2003 over claims he received money from Saddam Hussein's regime in Iraq.

However, the Respect MP could face fraud charges over the Iraq oil-for-food scandal after documents emerged yesterday relating him to the affair.

Bookmaker Paddy Power has given Galloway odds of 1/33 for the boot during tonight's double eviction. NBA basketball player Dennis Rodman is likely to be next up for eviction on odds of 9/1 while fake celebrity Chantelle Houghton is rank outsider on 22/1.

Galloway's popularity plummeted to a new low after last night's episode of the Channel 4 reality show saw him hurl abuse at Ordinary Boys' singer Preston, Chantelle and shamed TV presenter Michael Barrymore.

He had previously been given odds of 12/1 before the 10pm show and before new documents about his links with former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein came to light in the press, as well of pictures of him shaking hands with Saddam's murderous son Uday.

Serious Fraud Office investigators are trying to determine whether Galloway will face charges after thousands of US documents suggested that large payments were made by Saddam to the MP, laundered through the oil-for-food programme.

The loudmouth MP, who has been ridiculed in the house pretending to be a cat and a dancer dressed in an all-in-one leotard ensemble, attacked Preston for being a liar and a cheat, despite cheating himself -- by breaking 'Big Brother' rules and discussing nominations.

In one of the longest, drawn-out arguments in 'Big Brother' history, Galloway lambasted Preston.

"The cheat in this picture will be vividly evident to everyone watching... you're a sneak and a liar and you're exposed to the whole country."

He later turned on Chantelle and Preston for eating luxury food, smoking and drinking in their last task.

He said: "If I'd been called in there I would have stood ramrod straight, refused to sit down, refused to eat, refused to drink, refused to smoke."

Later, Barrymore bore the brunt of his attack.

"You're the most selfish, self-obsessed person I have ever met in my entire life... All you speak about it you, because all you care about it you... number one," the publicity hungry MP said.

After the argument eventually died down, Preston called Galloway "as democratic as a Nazi" and Chantelle branded him "a wicked, wicked man".

The MP was nominated by four out of his eight housemates and will face the public tonight, alongside Houghton and Rodman, who each received three nominations.
