Digital Camera: print run of 60,000 |
Future Publishing is rebranding its computer titles under the name Future Digital and at the same time is taking on Paragon Publishing, Emap and IPC Media by launching a new title, Digital Camera Magazine.
The company said the name change reflected the technological shift in society, with the computer, consumer electronics and telecoms industries forging closer links.
Formerly branded the Computing Division, the division will include 16 regular magazines, including flagship titles Microsoft Windows XP: The Official Magazine, PC Format and PC Plus.
Digital Camera Magazine will be a monthly, wider-format title priced at £4.99, aimed initially at second-time digital camera owners.
The title, which will have an initial print run of 60,000 when it goes on sale at the end of the month, is aimed at helping people to get the most out of their digital photographic equipment.
Future Digital publishing director John Wier said that
Digital Camera Magazine would be accompanied by a website. He added: "More than 100,000 people who read our PC and computing titles intend to buy a digital camera this year - it is one of the fastest growing
sectors in the technology market.
"We think there is an opportunity for a broad, high-end,
digital camera magazine in today's market."
The company is also launching a one-off title called Digital Home, which will go on sale at the beginning of December priced at £3.50.
