Future promotes Morgan to new role

LONDON - Specialist magazine publisher Future has appointed the publisher of its hobbies & craft portfolio, Ursula Morgan, to the newly created role of commercial manager of the division.

Morgan, who joined Future in 2000, will report to group publisher Kerry Lawrence in a role that will involve driving new commercial ventures across titles such as CrossStitcher, PaperCraft Inspirations, Simply Knitting and Your Family Tree.

Morgan, whose role of publisher will be made redundant following the move, will also be briefed to create new events and strengthen relationships with advertisers.

Lawerence said that, following the success of brand extensions across Future's UK business, Morgan's promotion is "a logical next step".

"Alongside the recent appointment of Paula Ellwood as ad director for our portfolio, this gives us a fantastic opportunity for growth in an increasingly aggressive sector," she said.

Separately, Future has appointed a former senior editor at AOL UK, Kieran Alger, as its new online editor of gadget website T3.com.

Alger, who joins from Bauer Consumer Media, will look to develop the T3 brand in his new role and will work closely with group publisher Nail Ferguson, who also recently joined Future from Bauer Consumer Media.
