Galbraith will start in June, reporting to Future's film portfolio publisher Simon Maxwell.
He joined what was Emap's consumer magazines business three years ago as a senior sales executive, working on its entertainment titles Empire, Q and Mojo.
While at Emap, he also held the position of brand director for rock magazine Kerrang!
Before joining Emap, Galbraith worked at Hachette Filipacchi in a sales executive role.
He will be working with former Emap colleague Niall Ferguson, who recently joined Future as group publisher of technology title T3.
Bauer Consumer Media said it is currently recruiting a replacement for Galbraith to take up the role of brand director for Q and Mojo.
Galbraith will be based in Future's London office.
