Future launches Xbox magazine in the US

LONDON - Future Network's US subsidiary, Imagine Media, is launching the US version of the Official Xbox Magazine, ahead of the delayed release of the games console on November 15.

The title will be published monthly and Future says the launch issue has 42 pages of advertising booked, with 62 pages of advertising booked for the December issue.

Last week Microsoft delayed the launch of the Xbox from November 8 to its new release date of November 15. No reason was given for the delay, but it temporarily pushed back the launch of the console in Japan to concentrate on the US launch.

The launch of the US title will be followed by the launch of the Official UK Xbox Launch Special in the UK on November 8. This will serve as an introduction to the Official UK Xbox Magazine.

Future has been in financial trouble for most of this year. Earlier in the year the company announced around 500 job cuts across the UK and Europe in an attempt to save money.

It closed new economy magazine Business 2.0 in the UK and Europe, and sold the US edition to eCompany, part of AOL Time Warner's Fortune Group, for £48.8m.
