Future Publishing is launching DVD Shopper - a title for 'DVD virgins' - and is revamping Home Entertainment and Hi-Fi Choice.

The bi-monthly DVD Shopper debuts on 13 October, priced pounds 3.99. It promises jargon-free, accessible advice on choosing and installing DVD hardware.

Future already publishes What DVD?, which has been repositioned to provide more indepth information.

The 100-page first issue carries 15 pages of advertising for DVD manufacturers, dealers and retailers.

A sales team has been created to sell the new title and What DVD?. It will be run by senior sales executive Debbie MacLaren, who moves over from the Home Entertainment and Hi Fi Choice team. She is joined by senior sales executive Fiona Beech and sales executives Jennie Lavin and Liz Goddard.

The new title will be cross-sold with Home Entertainment and Hi Fi Choice in conjunction with their sales team, headed by ad manager Andrew Goldsmith.

Goldsmith said the four titles had plenty of clients in common that could benefit from group advertising packages. Both MacLaren and Goldsmith report to sports and entertainment group ad manager Rob Debenham.

A recent report by Screen Digest has revealed DVD to be the fastest growing format in Europe, outstripping sales of VCRs. The UK is leading the market.

As part of their overhaul, Home Entertainment and Hi Fi Choice are to get radically different covers. Content will be improved with expanded buyers' guides and both are relaunching their websites.
