FT names Bogler to edit Lex and hires Giles from Ofcom

LONDON - The Financial Times has promoted Asian news editor Dan Bogler to edit its influential Lex column, replacing George Graham, who has left for a role at the Royal Bank of Scotland.

It is one of two senior appointments at the newspaper. Chris Giles has also been named economics editor, replacing Ed Crooks, who has been promoted to UK news editor.

Bogler returns to London from Hong Kong and will head a team of six journalists. He began his career on the FT at the Lex column in 1995.

Giles rejoins the FT from Ofcom, where he headed the review into public service broadcasting. He first worked for the FT in 2000 as a leader writer.

Andrew Gowers, FT editor, said: "I am thrilled to have made these two key appointments. The FT has over many years built and maintained a reputation for excellence in its economic coverage and its financial commentary, and I am completely confident that Chris and Dan will continue and extend this great tradition."
