FremantleMedia trials cross-media service

FremantleMedia has been hired by the BBC to launch a raft of cross- media content services on the back of its hit series The Apprentice.

As part of its "public service broadcast content" multi-platform trials, exclusive content from the show will be available via the BBC website.

Audiences can log on and watch entire episodes online, behind-the-scenes interviews with the candidates and producers of the show, and read a weekly column written by last series' runner-up, Saira Khan.

In a separate experiment, Fre-mantle has secured a contract with leading mobile phone networks to provide commercial mobile video clips of The Apprentice, which fans can access immediately after each episode is broadcast. Dom Wheeler, vice-president of Licensing, UK, FremantleMedia Licensing World-wide, said: "While content is being made available on the BBC's multi-media platforms, through this trial with the BBC we can also offer some of the same content to fans on their mobile phones immediately after a show is transmitted."
