The website, which launches later this month, will host selections of comedy shows from Fremantle's archives with titles available to download, own or rent.
The company will also offer consumers additional unique programming such as specially filmed episodes and celebrity interviews.
Pete Kalhan, senior vice president for the home entertainment and archive sales division at Fremantle Media, said the new distribution channel was "a great way for us to interact directly with our consumers by delivering to them the content they want, when and where they want it".
"We very much see TVComedyClassics.com as the first in many programme genre portal websites we will be developing and we're certain it will be a big hit with comedy fans," he added.
As part of a marketing drive for the service, Freemantle Media will carry the TVComedyClassics brand on upcoming DVD releases.
