Freeview is now present in 6.4m homes, with sales of Freeview products rising by one third during the first two months of 2006 against the same period in 2005.
Freeview said that an increase in sales of personal video recorders and digital TVs has helped to maintain its growth.
Ilse Howling, general manager of Freeview, said: "With the addition of new entertainment channels, including E4, More 4, Sky Three, ITV4 and CiTV, and with FilmFour on the way, we offer a compelling and simple route to digital TV. Our audience is genuinely mass market and mainstream -- with the new channels attracting a younger audience."
The figures follow those from media regulator Ofcom yesterday, which said that 1m new digital TV households werer added in the first three quarters of 2005, which pushes digital TV penetration in the UK to 66%.
Since launching in 2002, Freeview has proved a viable free-to-air digital alternative to Sky Digital's pay proposition, which now has more than 8m subscribers.
