Freeserve is unhappy that BT is promoting the access-only broadband product to its 20 million telephone customers when they receive their phone bills.
It is also unhappy that BT is following up its campaign to educate consumers about broadband with immediate ads to promote it own product.
BT is in the middle of a ten-day ad blitz to educate consumers about the possibilities broadband can deliver (Marketing, September 19).
But it will follow this from October 2 with a huge campaign through St. Luke's to promote BT Broadband.
Oftel threw out complaints from Freeserve last month amid concerns that regulating BT's marketing activities would stall uptake of broadband, seen by the government as vital to economic growth.
AOL, the UK's next biggest ISP, said it would continue to put the case to Oftel against BT cross-promoting its broadband offering.
