Freeserve launches TV-style ads

Internet portal Freeserve has started selling the first non-banner ads on its internet TV platform, using a full-screen ad format developed by online marketing firm Tangozebra.

The Tangozebra Transition ads are pre-loaded, three-second audio-visual ads, designed to be more similar to TV commercials.

According to Freeserve, the full-size screen appeals to both advertisers and internet TV audiences, who "tend to be relaxed and receptive to TV-style commercial breaks".

Freeserve, which was sold to French ISP Wanadoo last December, claims it is the first media owner to offer this kind of ad on internet TV. In March, it announced the launch of pan-European advertising sales across Europe on the Freeserve and Wanadoo websites.
