Freeserve has named Toby Selves, a group head at radio sales house

Opus, its head of direct sales.

Selves, who manages London stations LBC and News Direct, will start to

recruit a direct selling team of 14 when he arrives at the ISP on 28

August.

The 34-year-old needs to hire sales managers for each of Freeserve’s

sites. These are Finance, Careers, the women’s site iCircle, BabyWorld,

Sports, B2B, Travel and Motoring. He is also looking for sales

executives.

Selves, who is already drawing up a hit-list of clients, will sit

alongside a head of agency sales - a position that Freeserve’s

advertising sales director Caroline Hughes is close to filling.

Selves started out as a telesales executive in the classified department

of Today. He has also spent time on the sales teams of Mirror Group,

Associated Newspapers and Express Newspapers.

He joined Opus almost six years ago, rising through the ranks to become

group head.

Hughes commented: ’Toby is a great bloke - and a Gooner to boot.’
