Fox Kids takeover puts strain on BSkyB/Viacom relationship

The relationship between BSkyB and Viacom -- joint venture partners in children’s cable and satellite channel Nickelodeon -- could come under pressure when BSkyB-owner News Corporation takes control of Fox Family Worldwide, owner of the Fox Kids Network.

LONDON (Brand Republic) – The relationship between BSkyB and Viacom -- joint venture partners in children’s cable and satellite channel Nickelodeon -- could come under pressure when BSkyB-owner News Corporation takes control of Fox Family Worldwide, owner of the Fox Kids Network.

Fox Family Worldwide is jointly owned by News Corp and children’s programming mogul Haim Saban -- both hold equal 49.5% stakes. Saban decided in late December to exercise his right to sell his share which Fox Broadcasting, a News Corp subsidiary, is contractually required to buy.
