Four managers out as MGN revamps its ad sales operation

Mirror Group Newspapers has completed the restructure of its advertising sales department with the departure of four sales managers and the appointment of Sarah Kermode as the head of sponsorship.

Kermode, who was previously MGN's head of operations, will report to the display advertising director, Dominic Carter. Her new role will cover

all MGN newspapers and magazines.

Mel Ives, the magazine brand manager for Sundays, John French, the mail order manager, Jeff Twiggs, the manager of the Friday package The

Ticket, and Donna Price, the commercial development manager for MGN

magazines, will all leave the company at the end of July.

Five other managers will remain to oversee the four combined newspaper and magazine teams and The Ticket. Liz Cotterill, Maggie Brodi, Lindsay Wiles, Will Wright and Mark Richardson will report to the newly appointed sales controller, Mike Allan.

News of the redundancies comes one month after Carter unveiled his restructure of ad sales. The move, which halved the number of manager positions within the department, had already resulted in the departure of Jane Candlish, the head of magazines, and Alison Coggan, the head of classified advertising.

MGN said this week that there would be no further redundancies within the department until a decision was reached on the future of Apollo, the joint sales house planned by Trinity Mirror and The Telegraph Group.
