Premium burgers

The market has exploded with burger chains such as Five Guys, Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Burger and Lobster. No longer is a basic burger expected by consumers.  Different meats, brioche buns, vegetarian options, interesting toppings and side orders including sweet potato fries have become the norm.

Gourmet hotdogs

The premiumisation of American food has also extended into US favourite the hot dog.  The Sports Bar & Grill chain, which is located at London stations, has even copyrighted the name Beer Dog. Its premium hotdog is offered in a range of beef, pork or vegetarian and boasts a range of 11 exotic toppings.  The New York Buffalo Dog has buffalo sauce, blue cheese sauce and crumbled blue cheese while its London Dog includes bacon and sauteed onions.

Pizza

There may be some dispute between the Americans and Italians about who created the pizza. But pizza is continuing to be a staple on the UK high street and it is still growing in popularity. US chain MOD Pizza has recently launched its concept in the UK and UK founded chains such as The Stable, owned 51% by Fuller’s Brewery, offer a unique concept of matching pizza with cider.

Pulled pork

There doesn’t seem to be a restaurant or pub where pulled pork hasn’t made it onto the menu. But there are predictions that the "pulled" meat options could be spreading to include pulled beef and pulled chicken.
