Former England players reminisce in Mars ad

LONDON - Mars has released a new TV ad featuring legendary footballers Peter Shilton and Terry Butcher reminiscing about their proudest moments playing for England.

In the ad by AMV, Viv Anderson, the first ever black player to play for England and 90-year-old Bert Williams, the oldest living person to have played in a World Cup for England, reveal what it feels like to wear the three lions shirt and to take part in some of the best moments in England's football history.

Martin Peters, who scored in England's World Cup Final victory in 1966, and Hope Powell, the current Senior England Women's team manager and first woman to achieve a Uefa Pro Licence with 66 caps for England as a player, also take part in the ad.

Mars, the official supplier to the England Team, is also putting the three lions symbol on Mars bar packets, on sale in stores this week.

The new ad is the first in Mars' campaign during the run-up to the tournament in South Africa.

Terry Butcher, England captain during the 1990 World Cup, said: "I was delighted to take part in this advert for Mars. I will always feel immense pride to have played for my country for a whole decade and I really enjoyed remembering all those marvellous moments wearing the Three Lions.

"I'm sure the rest of the country will get goosebumps when they watch the ad."

A Mars spokesperson said: "We really wanted to capture that feeling of pride the players get when they pull on the England shirt. It was incredible to hear these legends talk so openly about their personal experiences of playing for England."
