Former Emap ad director launches independent cross-media agency

LONDON – Former Emap Advertising cross-media director Jane Kesley is launching Xmedia Creative, an agency specialising in non-standard platforms including sponsorship, promotions, editorial and events.

The agency, the first of its kind in the UK according to Kesley, will project-manage campaigns across all media owners and platforms on behalf of agencies and clients.

Kesley said integrated campaigns were a challenge for the advertising industry.

She said: "After years of working in creative departments of media owners and leading the cross-media charge, I see a real need for an independent specialist.

"Creative solutions departments are now stock in trade and, as an extension of that trend, Xmedia Creative will work across all media-owner brands and platforms where appropriate to the client's brief."

It is estimated that about 10% of advertising spend is on non-standard activity such as sponsorships, promotions, stunts, events and ad-supported content, which Kesley hopes will grow to become a total of 20% of the market.

The agency's first major task is a public sector brief across terrestrial TV, Emap magazines, radio and national press, with ad-funded programming, contract publishing and promotions.

Kesley pioneered cross-media deals at Emap Advertising, the first multimedia sales operation in the UK.

She said the agency was committed to giving clients integrated ideas cutting across media platforms.

"For the agency, it's about access to media it can't buy -- content, creativity, events -- making them famous, improving margins and simplifying trading," she said.
