
Chocolate and pastry indulgence
Take part in decadent chocolate and pastry masterclasses at The Savoy this winter and into the new year, with the chance to learn culinary skills, expert tips and recipes from some of the industry's award-winning specialists. The Savoy’s in-house chocolatiers will guide guests through a brief history of chocolate and will touch upon the process, cultivation and signature flavour notes. Attendees will be able to try their hand at creating perfect versions of ganache, mousses and sauces whilst drawing from an interactive and engaging demonstration using emulsions and tempering. Pastry classes headed up by The Savoy’s executive pastry chef, Ludwig Hely, are also available.
The waffle comeback
With the trend for brunches on the rise, waffles - in particular savoury ones, are the next big brunch thing. Hackney's Oslo restaurant has launched a brunch menu focusing on savoury waffles, including the Nordic Cure, featuring two Clarence Court eggs any style with chorizo, smoked bacon, haloumi, avocado, grilled peppers and homemade chilli beans on signature waffle and a vegetarian version with avocado, Portobello mushrooms and cherry tomatoes.The Waffle Lion pop up, taking place today (8 September) in Old Bethnal Green is showcasing waffles with indulgent flavours such as slow-roasted mutton shoulder with pomegranate molasses, yoghurt and fresh mint, paired with prosecco, wine, spirits and craft beer.
Desserts with a twist
The Epicureans' World Food Markets is tempting visitors to indulge in a classic Nutella Dhan Waffle; a creation combining the waffle, pancake and doughnut, while pizza restaurant Zia Lucia on Holloway Road has a a dessert pizza option made with a Nutella stuffed crust, creamy custard topping and fresh apple slices.
