Flextech scraps director position in major revamp

Flextech television's top marketer Mary Beer has been left without a job after the company axed her role in a restructure that marks the end of marketing as a stand-alone division.

The shake-up means that the marketing of Flextech's channels, which include Bravo, LivingTV and Trouble, UK Gold and UK Style, will now be overseen by individual channel editors. A central creative unit will be on hand to provide creative support.

Beer was promoted to director of marketing in November 2001. She was previously head of marketing for Bravo and Trouble and responsible for rebranding the former. Her responsibilities were expanded to include overseeing ChallengeTV and LivingTV.

"This structure will play to our core branding skills and strengthen our channels' values in a competitive marketplace," Flextech's chief executive Jane Lighting said.

Apart from Beer's no other marketing roles have been axed. Flextech uses Banc to handle the advertising for its wholly-owned TV channels, Bravo and Trouble, and its web site www.sceneone.co.uk.
