Opie said: "I've had a fantastic time at Flextech Television for over ten years and I've loved every minute of my time as MD. This was a difficult decision to make."
"But I have achieved everything I set out to do and steered the company through incredible changes to great success. Now is a natural time for me to look for a new challenge, but first I plan to take a short break and spend some time with my family."
Malcolm Wall, chief executive of the Content Division at NTL, said: "It is with both surprise and sadness that we accept Lisa's decision to leave and we shall miss her greatly. I have confidence in the abilities of the great senior management team at Flextech Television, however, and we will bounce back."
Opie joined Flextech Television in 1993 and was appointed managing director in April 2003.
The company's sales division IDS saw the departure of sales boss Mark Howe in August 2005. Howe was later appointed managing director of search engine Google in January this year
