'Celebrity Love Island' will see five single male and five single female celebrities compete in romance-themed games and challenges and go on dates.
An ITV spokewoman said: "The idea is it's Heat [magazine] on the beach."
There will be an interactive audience element, similar to 'I'm a Celebrity''s phone voting for bush tucker trials. But instead of being fed on insects and being doused with bug showers, these lucky celebrities will be going on extravagant dates.
The producers are aiming to recreate the romance sparked by Peter Andre and Jordan on series three of 'I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!' and will choose the most romantic setting, possibly the Caribbean, to do so.
The show will broadcast in a primetime slot over a two-week period similar to 'I'm a Celebrity.. Get Me Out Of Here!' and 'Hell's Kitchen'.
ITV has not revealed any of the celebrities taking part nor named the show's presenter.
