Five of the most creative dessert-themed activations

Frozen food brand Aunt Bessie's gifted a couple with a bespoke three-tier wedding cake made from Yorkshire pudding. The company devised the creation in celebration of National Yorkshire Pudding Day, which took place in February. The master chefs at Aunt Bessie’s spent the past three weeks building the cake, which came complete with Yorkshire pudding canapes and a gravy fountain.

In June, Harrods unveiled 'The Jelly Parlour of Wonders' by food artists Bompas & Parr, which was installed in the department store's world-famous Food Halls, with a jelly model of the iconic Knightsbridge store on show. The jelly stall featured a variety of quirky flavours, which were all available to take away, including rose and pistachio ribband blancmange; marbled coral with Johnnie Walker Gold Reserve whisky and raspberry jelly cubes; Chartreuse and peach; yellowgage plums and Harrods Riesling; Champagne with summer fruits and a violet elderflower set with fresh blueberries.

Fashion label Kate Spade offered consumers dessert dishes or its products, including accessories and handbags, as part of an edible art installation that celebrated the opening of its London Regent Store in April. Visitors were able to step into the installation, called Sweet Suite, modelled on an upmarket hotel suite. Participants were able to indulge in sweet treats, and those who uncovered products were able to take them home for free.

Charity Macmillan Cancer Support showcased artwork featuring an entire British skyline made out of 25,000 biscuits. The installation was created in celebration of the millions of people around the UK who make the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, the charity's flagship fundraising event, a record-breaking one.

The Kraken Rum took to the road with what it claimed was the UK's first black ice cream. The #Iscreamforkraken campaign gave consumers a taste of alcoholic pure black ice cream, with the concept of the traditional summertime ice cream van turned on its head. The rock-inspired truck played distorted versions of metal classics as it toured cities across the UK in the summer.
