Vegan Peasant Catering

The founders of this 100 per cent plant-based catering company, Diana Pinkett and Adrian Smith, spent years travelling around the world, where they gained inspiration from India to the Mediterranean. Head chef Smith hails from award-winning vegetarian restaurant Terre à Terre in Brighton.

The company caters for weddings and other events, and can regularly be found at food festivals. Key dishes include spicy vada fritters with chilli pickled mango and lime on pepper papads.

Pinkett told Event: "I embraced the vegan lifestyle over 25 years ago and Adrian has been a chef for more than 25 years. We didn’t see anyone in London or the surrounding areas offering a modern, creative and fun event catering experience, so we decided to start Vegan Peasant Catering."

The Parsnipship

Founded by Ben Moss, The Parsnipship creates vegan produce for wholesale, and it is available both at farmer’s markets and online. As well as catering for events and weddings, Moss and his team also host a vegan cookery school, where students can try their hand at dishes such as heather flower, garlic and honey bread with chard.

Flo Ticehurts, director at The Parsnipship said: "We love that more and more people are enjoying vegan food - we’ve just been trading at the Green Man Festival, where our food went down a storm amongst dedicated veggies and omnivores alike."

Shambhu’s

The founders of this London-based vegan catering company are also members of the UK Jain community, and they set up Shambhu's in order to dispel common myths about the vegan community and lifestyle. As well as hosting plant-based cookery classes for adults and children, they can provide catering for events and food festivals. Sandwiches and pizzas feature on their menu alongside dishes with Indian flavours, such as tofu tikka masala.

Nishmah Shah, founder and chef at Shambu's told Event: "My underlying motivation behind Shambhu's is that I think the vegan lifestyle is very important for everyone to consider from so many standpoints: one's own health, the plethora of environmental issues we're faced with, our relationship with the animal kingdom, and so on."
