On 5 October, Thorpe Park and agency Taylor Herring set a male model – clad in full zombie make-up – loose in the streets of London. The scarily-dressed model visited locations such as Canary Wharf, Oxford Street and SoHo, all to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the theme park's Fright Nights. The stunt also acted as a launch for Thorpe Park's Platform 15 – a new live action maze set in the Park’s woodlands for the Halloween season.
Yelp's Halloween ghosthunt
The online urban guide and app, Yelp, is to run a Halloween-themed treasure hunt around London. The brand promises that there will be no scary side to this Halloween-themed event but it does, however, state that there will be plenty of chocolate. Guests will meet at a secret location in London for 2pm on 30 October, before travelling to different parts of the capital which have their own unique Halloween twist. The day will feature an exploration of London, fancy dress, free food, free drinks and, as promised by Yelp, a lot of chocolate. The event is free of charge, and its 100 places are open to everyone - but Yelp's 'Elite' memmbers will get priority. Visitors will need to install Snapchat before attending.
Supermarket chain Morrisons is hosting pumpkin carving classes on 27 and 28 October in a selection of its stores, with the aiming of giving a helping hand to anxious parents. The 'How to' tutorials will offer carving tips, as well as advice on how to prepare the pumpkin. Research conducted by Morrisons showed that one in five parents buy two pumpkins, just in case they need to start again, and one in 20 are reduced to tears by the pumpkin-carving experience.
