Financial Times cuts three major marketing posts

The Financial Times has made global marketing director Gordon Willoughby redundant and is cutting its two other London-based marketing director positions, including that of UK marketing director. They will be replaced by a single position of marketing director for the EMEA region.

The UK marketing director position was vacated by Tim Ward when he left to become marketing director of Friends Reunited in May. Since then, the FT has maintained that it was recruiting to replace to him.

The third role to be cut is that of marketing director for the continental Europe and rest of the world region, which is held by Gill Hart. She remains at the paper and is understood to be in contention for the new EMEA marketing director role, along with other internal and external candidates.

As global marketing director, Willoughby held a seat on the FT board but there will no longer be a marketing representative at board level.

Willoughby is said to be considering another opportunity within the Pearson group.
