Film executive Till in the frame for top ITV job

LONDON - ITV is understood to be courting United International Pictures' UK chairman and chief executive Stewart Till, as a replacement for outgoing chief executive Charles Allen.

According to a report in The Times today, headhunting firm Zygos Partnership is now contacting potential candidates, including Till, whose four years at film distributor UIP ends later this year. Till's hit films while at UIP include 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' and 'Trainspotting'.

As well as his background in film, including his chairmanship of the UK Film Council, he also has experience of advertising, having worked at Saatchi & Saatchi, as well as in TV through his involvement with the launch of Sky.

Other names reported to be in the frame for the top ITV job include: Channel 4 chief executive Andy Duncan; former Ofcom chief executive Stephen Carter; former Channel 4 chief executive Michael Jackson; and BSkyB programming boss Dawn Airey.

Allen, who announced he is to quit earlier this month, leaves in October. He will be replaced by finance director John Creswell on an interim basis.
