'Shooting Dogs' is based on the true story of a Catholic priest, played by 'Elephant Man' star John Hurt, and a young English teacher, played by Hugh Dancy.
Film distribution company Metrodome has set up two blogs to promote the film, as well as educate people about the 1994 genocide, which saw as many as 1m Rwandans slaughtered in only 100 days when Hutus turned on Tutsis.
The first blog, , promotes the film. It carries news, reviews, cast and crew information and a link to a Flickr photo site.
The second blog is devoted to information about the genocide itself, with stories from survivors and links to relevant organisations.
It includes the testimony of survivors such as B茅atha Uwazaninka, who writes: "I'm the only one of the household who survived. I went from house to house, like a hunted animal. Sometimes I hid in the drains with the corpses, pretending to be dead myself."
'Shooting Dogs' was directed by Michael Caton-Jones, who has also made 'Memphis Belle' and the forthcoming 'Basic Instinct 2'. It is being released in cinemas in the UK on March 31.
David Belton, producer, said: "We hope that this film will spark debate and these two sites are an opportunity to join in and contribute. We really want to hear from as many voices as possible: to tell us what you think and to open up the discussion so that all of us can share our stories."
The blogs have been created and maintained by Substance001, the online PR agency.
