Beer and other alcoholic drinks have been banned in Brazilian stadiums since 2003.

Budweiser is among the major sponsors of the 2014 World Cup.

Fifa general secretary Jerome Valcke is now visiting Brazil and is lobbying for the right to sell beer to be enshrined in World Cup law.

Valcke is reported to have told journalists in Brazil, "Alcoholic drinks are part of the Fifa World Cup, so we're going to have them. Excuse me if I sound arrogant, but that's something we won't negotiate."

The issue is currently being debated by the Brazilian Congress, but Fifa is thought to be unhappy about the slow progress.

Fifa was unavailable for comment.
