The retired footballer Ruud van Nistelrooy is fronting a campaign to promote EA Sports’ Fifa 14 game on Microsoft’s Xbox. Jam created the work, which begins with a spoof press conference where van Nistelrooy announces that he is ready to sign for a new club. Over the coming weeks, the former Dutch striker will star in more videos setting challenges for Fifa 14 gamers. The winners of the competition in EA Sports’ key markets – UK, France, Germany and Spain – will be able to sign a van Nistelrooy player to their Fifa 14 team. Other prizes include Xbox consoles. Before the campaign launch today (14 February), van Nistelrooy posted mysterious messages about returning to football on Twitter, leading some to speculate about a genuine comeback. The work was created by Ben da Costa, James Fernandes and James Greening, and directed by David Hartley through Believe Media.
