FCUK rapped by ASA for condom giveaway e-mail

French Connection has fallen foul of the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) once again over an e-mail promoting clothes and condoms.

The condoms were given away free with T-shirts, and the e-mail contained slogans that appeared on the shirts, such as 'Practise safe sex, go FCUK yourself'. The ASA ruled the ad was offensive. Last year, it condemned the firm for its 'Kinkybugger' ad.

The ASA has also upheld a complaint by easyJet against flybe.com over a regional press ad stating that 88% of flybe's flights run on time compared with 52% at easyJet. It agreed that the ad was misleading because it compared flights between London and Belfast only.

Iceland has been censured for unfairly comparing its promotional prices with Kwik Save's non-promotional prices in a leaflet, and for implying its prices were always lower than Kwik Save's.

Sainsbury's Bank has been told to alter the wording of its brochure after the ASA upheld a complaint from MyTravel UK that it exaggerated the benefits of its travel insurance over other products.
