Fcuk fights wine firm over French Connection name

French Connection is embroiled in a legal row with wine company

Bottle Green over the use of the French Connection brand name, ahead of

the fashion chain's entry into the alcoholic drinks market.

The UK Trademark Registry is considering a case concerning Bottle

Green's French Connection wines range.

A spokeswoman for the fashion retailer said Bottle Green's use of the

French Connection name "could confuse consumers".

She said: "We are asking that it stops calling its product by this name,

but we are not prepared to comment beyond that."

French Connection, also known as fcuk, recently announced plans to

launch a number of pre-mixed drinks through a partnership with Matthew

Clark Brands. The drinks would be sold under the fcuk brand.

The trademark registrar is expected to rule on the case in the next few

weeks.

Bottle Green refused to comment as Marketing went to press.
