The Grade I-listed flight-testing warehouses at TAG Farnborough Airport will be transformed into a contemporary venue by Artliner, which stages international art experiences.
Farnborough’s tunnels, Q121 and R52, will house artworks for the six-week duration of Artliner’s Wind Tunnel Project starting on 9 June 2014. During this time the space will be available for events of up to 350 guests.
The London Kitchen has been selected as the exclusive caterer for the venue and will offer a range of packages for events, from canapé menus to bowl food and seated dinners.
Damian Clarkson, managing director of The London Kitchen, said: "Farnborough’s Wind Tunnel Project is an exciting new idea. The London Kitchen can’t wait to get involved with this extraordinarily unique event space."
Opened in April 1935, Q121 is the largest wind tunnel in Great Britain with a 30ft mahogany wood blade and is the most complete example in Europe. The venue will be fitted with vintage military furniture.
R52 dates back to 1917 and was used for much of the twentieth century’s aeronautical research, including the testing of the Spitfire. Guests will be able to explore the pilot’s control cabin, where testing dials remain intact.
The Wind Tunnel Project will run biannually to coincide with the Farnborough International Airshow.
