Famous Grouse ad parodies celebrity culture

LONDON - The latest Famous Grouse ad, which breaks tonight, contrasts the fleeting fame of Britain's celebrity-loving culture with the fame of the brand itself.

In the ad, a pampered Chihuahua struts across the screen accompanied by a tacky music track and camera flashes of a watching crowd until it encounters the Famous Grouse.

They look at each other before the dog, complete with diamante studded coat, exits stage left; the grouse then raises a quizzical eyebrow followed by a shake of its head and a shudder.

The familiar Famous Grouse theme tune then plays and the words: ‘Famous for a reason - Scotland's favourite whisky' appears on the end-frame.

The ad was created by Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO.
