Fairtrade Foundation appoints first marketing chief

LONDON - The Fairtrade Foundation has appointed its first marketing director, Cheryl Sloan, in an effort to double the number of producers using the certification.

Sloan joins from Camelot where she was part of the team that won the third lottery operating licence.

She has previously worked in marketing for Mattel and Kimberly-Clark and her brief will be to bring Fairtrade to the mainstream.

Cadbury announced earlier this year that its flagship Dairy Milk product would gain Fairtrade certification. Mars followed this up by committing its Galaxy brand to the less stringent Rainforest Alliance certification.
