It may have more than 500 million registered users around the world, but it seems many still use Google or another search engine to find it.

Facebook emerged as the UK's favourite search according to the market share of visits, closely followed by YouTube and eBay.

Twice a year, Experian Hitwise ranks the 10 most popular websites. This year’s first top-10 ranking includes a mixture of social networks, retailers, automotive and news and media sites.

Facebook was the clear winner in 2010, ranked as both the most searched-for brand and the number one website in the Social Networks and Forums category.
