FA Cup lands £8m sponsorship from energy giant E.ON

LONDON - The Football Association has signed the UK's largest energy company E.ON as its lead FA Cup sponsor for the next four years, in a deal worth an estimated 拢8m.

Under the deal, the FA Cup will be known as the FA Cup sponsored by E.ON, starting in August this year.

The sponsorship will include the Women's Cup and FA Youth Cup with E.ON also taking on the role as the FA school's development partner to work with schools to ensure they provide a learning environment for football.

As lead partner, E.ON will benefit from increased advertising at stadiums during the FA Cup Final and semi-finals. At the moment, there are five sponsors given equal exposure: Carlsberg, Nationwide, McDonald's, Pepsi and Umbro. Each has equal exposure.

Paul Golby, chief executive of E.ON UK, said: "This will give us the opportunity to expand our investments in the UK outside our core business of power and gas and to become integrally involved with football at all levels throughout England."

Brian Barwick, FA chief executive said: "We are delighted to have a company of E.ON's stature as lead partner."
