F1 News & Motorsport International relaunches

LONDON - F1 News & Motorsport International has relaunched on the web, with a print magazine soon to follow, adding to the increasingly competitive field as the Formula 1 season kicks off.

The new site, is already live and carries news, features and interviews, including stories from this weekend's race in Melbourne Australia, which was won by British McLaren driver David Coulthard.

In a statement, the company said that F1 News & Motorsport International's website will soon be joined by what it describes as an "innovative" new magazine.

A spokesman said: "We won't just cover the races either. F1 News will go to the darkest corner of the paddock, as well as the most exclusive confines of the showbiz parties, to get the story, the gossip and the hottest news in the sport."

As well as news from the world of F1, the magazine will cover the World Rally Championship, Le Mans and other motor racing events. It says it has made a major investment in the title and promises to take an irreverent approach, as well as providing editorial insight from industry names.

The news comes after a spate of activity in the Formula 1 publishing arena. Tom Rubython, the maverick magazine publisher and former editor of Bernie Ecclestone's F1 Magazine, is to launch a rival magazine Business F1 after his sudden exit last year from Ecclestone's title. Ecclestone, in turn, relaunched his magazine in time for the season kick-off in Melbourne. It is edited by Matt Franey.

The market-leading weekly title in the F1 market is the weekly Autosport, published by Haymarket, with a circulation of 50,174. Haymarket is also behind the monthly magazine F1 Racing.
