Farnborough International, organiser of the biennial air show, has been granted planning permission to erect a permanent event building at Farnborough Aerodrome.

Rushmoor Council gave the go-ahead on 28 February for the 4,400sqm venue, called Farnborough International Venue & Events (FIVE). It will be able to hold 3,000-capacity events and is due to open in October.

Farnborough International exhibitions and event director Amanda Stainer said: 鈥淔IVE offers an excellent commercial opportunity for the development of the surrounding area and we are hoping it will also prove popular for community usage. Our commitment to the airshow is still as strong as ever, with FIVE as an extension to our company portfolio.鈥
