The MNA is an independent publisher whose titles include the Express & Star and Shropshire Star, along with a stable of paid-for weekly papers across the West Midlands and Shropshire area.
Some 10% of the entire group's 900 staff is expected to be impacted by the cuts, which is a result of difficult trading conditions, the group said.
The MNA said it had now entered into consultations with staff, which will take place over the next month.
Job cuts have been rife across the regional press in the past few years, as publishers battle against a tough advertising market and falling circulations.
Alan Harris, MNA managing director, said: "Like every other publisher, the MNA is facing very difficult trading conditions and there seems to be no sign of improvement. If we are to continue to invest for the future in our publications, both in print and on-line, then we must make some cost savings.
"The board fully understands that this is a very difficult time for all staff and we are doing our very best to keep everybody informed of what is happening."
It is not known what part of the business – editorial, commercial, production – the job cuts will affect.
According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABCs), the Express & Star registered a circulation of 116,992 in the period July 2010 to January 2011.
