Express hires Metro brand manager for travel head position

Express Newspapers has poached Metro's brand manager, Tracey

Newbery, to become the agency group head of travel across all of the

company's titles. Newbery, who has held the brand manager position at

the Associated Newspaper free title since its launch, will report to

Express Newspapers' client sales controller, Michael Guest.

Newbery is the second Metro staffer to take up a position at Express

Newspapers in the past two months. Metro's former head of advertising,

Gary Savage, was appointed the ad controller on the Sunday Express in

May as part of a raft of senior sales appointments that included the

introduction of the former Mail on Sunday motor specialist, Michael

O'Hare, as the deputy client sales controller.

Before joining Associated, Newbery worked as the ad manager across the

Johnston Press-owned regional titles The Northampton Chronicle and Echo,

The Mercury and Herald, Image magazine and Looking Good. She moved to

Metro in January 1999.

"Metro is a fantastic product," Newbery said. "I have had a great time

here and it has allowed me to take on a position that will further my

career."
