Expedia.co.uk has launched a promotional animated character called
Deal Hunter to attract users to low-price deals across the site. The
campaign was created by Zinc, Expedia. co.uk's new digital marketing
agency.
The character will be used in online promotions of flights and package
holidays, including banner ads and viral emails. It has also been
designed to work across WAP and PDAs.
It will be integrated into offline marketing campaigns by the travel
site's above-the-line ad agency, Euro RSCG, within the next six
months.
Media Planning will handle the media scheduling for the campaigns.
The character uses body language and facial expressions, and will appear
in different guises according to the time of year or destinations being
promoted.
"Deal Hunter was designed to promote any form of Expedia exclusive deals
and to give the site a personality. We aim to use him across tactical
offline marketing campaigns, too," said James Vaile, managing director
of Expedia.co.uk.
