Arthurs was previously commercial director at the east London venue. The new role of chief executive was created after managing director Maria Duddin left in November.

Simon Lockwood has been promoted to creative director, Mark Armstrong to facilities director and Tom Gore to executive chef.

Stuart Nathan becomes finance director, Toby Heelis has been made marketing director, and Wendy Glendinning-Plews takes on the role of HR and procurement director.

Former managing director Maria Duddin left after 12 years at the venue and four years at the helm. She is now launching her own business in her hometown of Newcastle.

Duddin told Event: "After being at the venue for so long and spending four years at the top, I wanted to get my teeth into something new. It’s important to not get complacent and to keep finding new challenges. All my family is in Newcastle too, so that was a factor in my move. I’m working on my new business which will cover events, consultancy, music and PR. There’s a big scene up here and I will use all the skills I’ve accumulated."

A spokesperson for The Brewery said: "Maria leaves The Brewery with our best wishes, and all at the venue would thank her for her significant contribution to the award winning Brewery’s success story over the last few years."

It added: "It remains very much business as usual at The Brewery, with the new team focussing on its historic values, and traditional markets and clients, but with significant commitment to improving both the venue and its client experience in terms of food, IT, AV and unique creative processes."
