Byrne left The QEIICC yesterday and is currently on holiday.
His appointment at the Royal Aeronautical Society commences with immediate effect.
Commenting on his new position Byrne said, "An essential part of this role will be to gain a understanding of the core principles of the Society; the importance and benefit to its members as well as their aspirations and objectives for the future.
"I look forward to working with the staff and members of the Society and making a significant contribution to the further development of this prestigious organisation," he added.
The QEIICC international sales manager Sue Etherington has been promoted to acting commercial director.
